In this episode, Kellen Wells-Mangold talks about his interesting twists and turns that guided his career into the world of Division III. He also shares how a errant mouse click landed him in graduate school in Australia.
Kellen Wells-Mangold was named the assistant athletics director at the University of Wisconsin-River falls in July of 2016.
In his current role at UW-River Falls, Wells-Mangold oversees the areas of NCAA compliance and student-athlete services. He also tasked with implementing student-athlete centered leadership programs for over 350 Falcon student-athletes and enhancing their overall experience while representing UW-River Falls. Wells-Mangold also serves as the department’s Title IX officer.
A native of Washington, Iowa, Wells-Mangold comes to UW-River Falls after a two-year stint as the assistant athletics director for internal operations at DePauw University. Prior to DePauw, he was employed as the student services and compliance coordinator at Murray State University.
Wells-Mangold began his professional career in college athletics as the athletics secretary at North Central College.
A graduate from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Sports Studies, Wells-Mangold went on to earn his Master’s in Sports Business from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.
Wells-Mangold holds professional memberships with the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A).
