PoA058 | Rob Cashell, Cascade Collegiate Conference

Rob Cashell, was named the commissioner of the Cascade Collegiate Conference in April 2012 after a national search and serving as interim commissioner since January of 2012.

As the Chief Administrative Officer for the 11 full member and four associate member conference, Cashell oversees all facets of the day-to-day operations including scheduling, marketing, rules and regulations, media relations, budgeting, staff supervision and championships.

Cashell serves in various leadership postions in the NAIA including the National Administrative Council (NAC), as vice-chair, The Council for Student Athletes (CSA), as co-chair and is a member of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC).

In addition, Cashell has served as the sport liaison for men’s and women’s golf and was on the Rater’s oversight committee for golf and men’s basketball. Before his appointment as NAC vice-chair Cashell chaired the National Rules and Ratings Committee,

Prior to ascending to the commissioner position Cashell, served as the Director of Athletics from 2001-2012 at Eastern Oregon University, a charter member of the CCC.At Eastern, Cashell served on the President’s Executive Cabinet and oversaw the Division of Athletics and 12 intercollegiate programs.

In 2007-08, Cashell was named the Cascade Conference and NAIA Region 1 Athletic Director of the Year. Cashell was nominated for the prestigious award again the following year. In 2009-10, Cashell once again was named the Cascade Conference Athletic Director of the Year. In addition, he was honored by NACDA as the Under Armour West Coast Athletic Director of the Year. In 2012 Cashell received the Dr. Dixie Lund Service Award from the Eastern Oregon University Alumni Association in regonitionof 11 years of service to Mountaineer athletics.

Prior to joining the Mountaineers, Cashell was the Athletic Director at the University of Montana Western from 1996 to 2001. Cashell was the first full-time athletic director in the school’s history.

A native of Montana, Cashell earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Montana Western in 1990 with a Health and Physical Education major, and a minor in History. He received a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Career Services from Montana State University-Northern in 1994.
