In this episode Matt shares his perspective on athletics fundraising. U. Indy is an NCAA Division II institution in a market with major colleges and professional sports teams. Matt shares his insights into how he grew U. Indy’s athletics fundraising from literally nothing to a highly successful operation today.
Under Donovan’s leadership, the Greyhound Club has produced $2.8 million in annual gifts to the organization. In 2003, the club initiated the Crimson and Grey Member Drive. This program has been vital to the Club’s membership growth along with the annual support of each graduating senior’s membership in the organization every year. He has been instrumental in turning home football game in to an “event” with enhancements such as “Tailgate Town”, a Stadium Club and a reserved parking program for tailgating fans.
In addition to the development of the Greyhound Club, Donovan has initiated many other successful ventures such as a comprehensive partnership program that has netted over $1 million in sponsor dollars in 10 years. He also created a planned giving society that has secured seven future commitments totaling $350,000 for the university.
